Memorial Day in Washington County

Originally Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day meant to honor soldiers who had died during the American Civil War. Soldiers would decorate the graves with flowers, flags and wreaths to celebrate fallen soldiers. This Memorial holiday take your family to one of the oldest parades in the US, The Annual Sharpsburg Memorial Day Commemoration and Parade. Ceremony begins at 11am with wreath-laying at the town square and parade starts at 1:30pm.Swimming resized
